Mouser Electronics, Inc. now supplies the new NTAG X DNA secure connected NFC tag from NXP Semiconductors. The NFC tag is designed to securely verify the authenticity of a product prior to purchase, combat counterfeits, and help manufacturers meet Digital Product Passport (DPP) security, trust, and integration requirements for IoT, consumer, and medical applications.

The NFC tag employs 16KB of high-density memory, a high data rate, and secure unique NFC (SUN) authentication to verify a product or device's authenticity quickly and securely. The device allows mobile devices to securely transfer data to another device via I2C or an NFC interface, utilising ECC key pairs, which the IC generates, to ensure that private keys are never exposed outside the IC. Also, supported by NXP's EdgeLock 2GO credential delivery service, it offers a highly secure authentication experience.

The NTAG X DNA NFC Tag conducts cryptographic operations for security-critical communication and control functions utilising Common Criteria EAL 6+ security certification with AVA_VAN.5 on the product level, and supports a generic Crypto API supplying AES, ECDSA, ECDH, SHA, HMAC, and HKDF cryptographic functionality. Asymmetric cryptography allows support for 256-bit ECC over the NIST P-256 and brainpoolP256r1 curves, while symmetric cryptography supports both AES-128 and AES-256 and facilitates PKI-based mutual authentication, including certificate handling. The NTAG X DNA hosts an I2C contact interface with two GPIOs and an ISO 14443 contactless interface. The device supplies a low-power design and consumes only 5μA in halt mode when an external VDD is equipped.
