Mouser Electronics, Inc. now offers the new Avior IMUs from Xsens/Movella. The Avior IMUs provide real-time orientation and inertial data for industrial, ROVs, AUVs, UAVs, robotics, camera/payload stabilisation, and embedded applications.

The IMUs are lightweight OEM form factor IMUs with a compact footprint (36.8mm x 40mm) that offer enhanced performance in various industrial and commercial applications like buoys, robotics, agriculture, mining, construction, logistics, and 3D mapping and survey tools, to name a few. Featuring high-end performance with advanced analogue filtering for enhanced stability and noise reduction with low SWaP-C, the Avior offers multi-protocol flexible interfaces, including UART, CAN, SPI, and I2C, as well as support for RS-232 and RS-422 via the development kit or an external transceiver. The series is ideal for high-volume integration, thanks to its vertical 10x2-pin socket connector for simple board mounting and its tolerance of any mounting orientation in all three axes.

The Avior series is offered in three variants. The A1M43C IMU offers high-performance strapdown integration (SDI) and delivers accurate and calibrated inertial sensor data, including angular velocity, acceleration, and magnetic field data. The A1V43C vertical reference unit (VRU) adds reliable 3D orientation tracking with high-quality calibrated roll, pitch, and (unreferenced) yaw data. The A1A43C attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) additionally delivers unrivalled heading accuracy with drift-free roll, pitch, and true-north-referenced yaw, providing heading accuracy of 1° RMS.

The A1A43C-DK kit, also available from Mouser, is an evaluation and prototyping platform for the Avior series. The kit includes a development board with an OEM form factor for compact or embedded systems and the A1A43C AHRS, which can also emulate the other two units. The free-to-download MT software suite provides access to the AHRS and features an intuitive graphical user interface, along with drivers compatible with various operating systems. It also offers numerous other useful tools, including source code and comprehensive documentation.
