New privacy desktop monitors combat visual hacking

Crystal Display Systems has launched its new SoloVUE Privacy Desktop Monitor range, designed to protect sensitive on-screen information from visual hacking in shared, open, and high-traffic environments.

As organisations continue to strengthen cyber security, the risk posed by visual data exposure is often overlooked. Visual hacking – the unauthorised viewing of information displayed on screens – remains a considerable threat in sectors such as healthcare, financial services, government, retail, education, and transportation hubs.

The new range directly addresses this challenge with permanent, factory-laminated privacy filters built into the monitor bezel. Unlike conventional clip-on or removable privacy screens, the monitors deliver privacy by design, ensuring protection cannot be removed, degraded, or bypassed by users.

“Visual hacking is one of the simplest yet most underestimated forms of data breach,” said Crystal Display Systems. “With SoloVUE, we’ve removed reliance on accessories or user behaviour and delivered a professional monitor solution where privacy is always active and always compliant.”

The monitors use advanced microlouver technology to restrict viewing angles, preventing screen content from being visible beyond approximately 30° off centre. At the same time, high-brightness IPS panels and anti-glare coatings ensure clarity, colour accuracy, and usability for the person directly in front of the display.

Because the privacy filter is permanently installed at the factory, these monitors:

  • Eliminate the risk of removable or missing privacy filters
  • Address common audit and compliance failures
  • Reduce long-term costs associated with replacement accessories
  • Avoid image degradation issues common with stick-on solutions

Any attempt to remove the internal filter will damage the monitor, providing physical enforcement of privacy policies in regulated environments.

The SoloVUE Privacy Desktop Monitor range includes:

  • 23.8” Desktop Monitor

Full HD resolution (1920×1080), VGA and HDMI inputs

  • 27” Desktop Monitor

QHD resolution (2560×1440), DisplayPort and HDMI inputs

Both models feature adjustable stands with height and rotation options and are supplied with permanently laminated privacy filters for long-term reliability. Minimum order quantity is 100 units.

SoloVUE monitors are ideal for:

  • Healthcare and medical service desks
  • Government and secure office environments
  • Financial institutions and banking counters
  • Retail service desks and customer-facing terminals
  • Airports, education, and shared workspaces

In addition to privacy protection, SoloVUE monitors offer key professional features including security slots, flicker-free operation, blue-light reduction, and low-reflectance coatings – all selected to meet the demands of compliance-critical applications.

By integrating privacy at the hardware level, the company ensures organisations can protect sensitive information while maintaining image quality, reliability, and warranty integrity.
