Mouser Electronics, Inc. now offers the new Wireless xG28 Explorer Kit for Amazon Sidewalk from Silicon Labs. The kit provides a small-form-factor, low-cost evaluation platform to demonstrate and rapidly prototype wireless sensor and IoT applications for Amazon Sidewalk. This secure, low-bandwidth, long-range wireless network uses BLE and sub-GHz bandwidth to create shared wireless networks connecting IoT devices at home and beyond.
The kit is based on the Silicon Labs EFR32SG28 dual-band wireless SoC, used for battery-operated end devices in energy-efficient connected IoT applications utilising the Amazon Sidewalk ecosystem. The high-performance, dual-band SoC's single-die, multi-core solution supports multiple Sidewalk PHYs, including 2.4GHz BLE for in-home connectivity and sub-GHz FSK for 'beyond the fence' and Neighbourhood Area Networks. The device's large memory footprint, AI/ML hardware accelerator, and integrated power amplifiers enable next-level secure connectivity with Secure Vault and up to 49 GPIO with low power consumption and fast wakeup times for Amazon Sidewalk devices.
The xG28 Explorer Kit arrives programmed with Silicon Labs' Simplicity Studio, which lets users start running code on their project in less than a minute and demonstrate uplink/downlink over the Amazon Sidewalk network between the end device and the cloud. The kit features a USB interface, an on-board SEGGER J-Link window, two user-LEDs/buttons, with support for hardware add-on boards via a mikroBUS socket and a Qwiic connector, allowing developers to build and prototype applications employing a virtually endless combination of off-the-shelf boards from MikroE, SparkFun, Adafruit, and Seeed Studios.
