Advantech has released the UNO‑2372V3, a next‑generation edge automation computer built to empower industrial IoT applications. Powered by the latest Intel quad-core N250 processor (formerly Twin Lake), high-precision, high-speed I/O, and DDR5 memory, the device offers significantly improved CPU and graphics performance in a compact, fanless, and modular design.
The device is powered by the Intel quad-core N250 processor, together with support for up to 16GB DDR5 SO-DIMM memory, which delivers a substantial performance improvement. It integrates dual high‑speed Intel LAN ports that provide up to 2.5GbE throughput, enabling faster data transfer and real‑time edge communication. Moreover, it features a USB Type-C port that supports a third independent 4K@60 Hz display, along with HDMI and DisplayPort interfaces. Together, these display outputs ensure smooth visualisation and versatile connectivity for factory, building, and machine automation applications.
The computer features a modular architecture that supports the company's iDoor technology for easy expansion of wireless connectivity, fieldbus communication, and additional I/O. It incorporates three built-in M.2 slots (B-Key, E-Key, and M-Key) to accommodate wireless modules, NVMe storage devices, and field communication interfaces, enabling scalable configurations for a wide range of industrial deployments. Also, an integrated 8-bit GPIO interface provides programmable I/O control to support greater flexibility and interoperability within automation systems.
The device adopts a fanless, cable-free structure that enhances system durability and operational stability. It also introduces a new remote switch functionality that supports external power on/off control to help streamline maintenance procedures. The removable DIMM cover and external SIM slot simplify both field upgrades and connectivity setup. At the same time, an optimised thermal design ensures efficient heat dissipation for reliable performance across an operating temperature range of -20C to 60C, with 10–36VDC wide-range input, even in harsh industrial environments.
By combining strong computing power, scalable design, and rugged reliability, the device empowers manufacturers to accelerate smart factory initiatives, streamline data collection, and realise edge‑to‑cloud intelligence more efficiently.
For instance, in an automated production line, the UNO-2372V3 can serve as a centralised control and data acquisition platform for testing systems used to verify the sealing integrity of assemblies. Through its Ethernet and RS-232 interfaces, it collects real-time pressure data and test results, processes them locally, and synchronises data with the factory's MES for complete traceability. It also provides a user-friendly HMI for on-site monitoring, parameter configuration, and historical data review, improving both visibility and productivity on the shop floor.
